Right-Hand Accordion MIDI System — SoundPro X4

The right-hand accordion MIDI system from SoundPro X4 adds programmable MIDI control to the treble or solo side of an acoustic accordion. Dedicated sensors detect the right-hand keys and send mapped MIDI data to a compatible sound module, SD-card sampler, electronic organ, arranger, keyboard or computer.

Right-hand MIDI capabilities

  • Up to 46 configurable right-hand sensor inputs
  • Individual assignment of every input to any MIDI note from 0 to 127
  • Selectable MIDI channel from 1 to 16
  • 10 banks with 10 preset positions per bank
  • Editable preset names, MIDI Bank Select and Program Change
  • Up to 16 configurable accordion-register combinations
  • 16 configurable hardware User buttons

The User buttons can control presets, banks, registers, transpose, octave, volume, bellows control, Pitch Bend, modulation and direct access to system pages.

Touchscreen and bellows control

The color touchscreen provides access to presets, MIDI channel, note mapping, registers, User-button assignments and display settings. Brightness and automatic screen-sleep timing are adjustable.

Bellows expression supports center, pull and push calibration, minimum and maximum sensor values, three predefined response profiles and one customizable profile.

Stored configuration

Preset names, MIDI channel, note assignments, register mappings, button functions, bellows calibration and display settings are stored in internal memory. User backup, restore and factory-reset functions are available.

Package shown

  • SoundPro X4 control and display module
  • Main right-hand sensor board and sensor set
  • Register-sensor and bellows-pressure sensor connections

Important: This package is for the right-hand/solo side. Bass and Chord boards are not included. SoundPro X4 does not generate audio by itself. Mechanical installation, sensor quantity and wiring must be adapted to the accordion. Wireless MIDI equipment is included only when explicitly stated in the selected package.

Who is this right-hand accordion MIDI system for?

This right-hand accordion MIDI system is intended for musicians who want electronic control on the melody side while retaining the original acoustic Bass and Chord mechanism. It is suitable for stage performance, rehearsal, recording and control of hardware or software instruments. The preset structure allows different sound selections and mappings to be prepared for individual songs or performance styles.

Installation and calibration

The sensor board, individual key sensors, display, register inputs, User buttons and bellows-pressure sensor must be positioned and wired for the specific accordion. After installation, every key should be tested for correct note assignment and reliable Note On and Note Off operation. Bellows calibration should be performed with the instrument assembled so the response matches the player’s normal push and pull dynamics.

External sound source required

The SoundPro X4 controller sends MIDI data and does not generate audio. Connect it to the SoundPro X5 SD card MIDI sampler module, an electronic organ, arranger, hardware sound module or computer. For a system that also includes Bass and Chord sensing, see the complete SoundPro X4 accordion MIDI system. General information about MIDI is available from the MIDI Association.

Preset preparation and daily operation

Create the required right-hand presets before performance and confirm the selected MIDI channel, note mapping, octave, transpose and bellows response for each registration. Test every key, register input and User button after the accordion is fully assembled. The right-hand accordion MIDI system should then be tested with the final sound module and amplification setup at normal playing volume. Keep a backup of the working configuration before changing mappings or restoring factory settings.

The right-hand accordion MIDI system can store dedicated configurations for different sound modules, songs and performance requirements.
